Day 4 Mt Surprise Rest day 0 kms

Some of us got to sleep in today but a few of us decided to take the tour to the Undara Lava Tubes and  Peter S decided to take the SavanahLander train ride.  The Lava Tubes was a very interesting tour and the tubes themselves are amazing; they were a bit smelly but that was due to the bats that live inside them. Thousands of them flying madly around the tops of our heads but managing to miss us if we remained still. We walked to the top of an inactive crater and around the rim before heading to the caves. Then a bit of a treacherous climb down into the caves and some black holes. Annie would not have enjoyed this tour as there were cane toads, cave frogs, hints of snakes (but none seen) and lots of bats.
Back to the caravan park in time for a late lunch, a walk around town, a swim for some and cooking for me. I was providing dinner for everyone tonight- spaghetti bolognese and a tossed salad. Dessert was to be at the CP restaurant.
Collis & Jacquei had organized a whip cracking competition as a fund raiser for TADVIC and Collis was putting up a couple of cans of beer as a prize. Most of the riders had a go and the manager, his maintenance man and another camper joined in. We think we made about $60.00 for the charity tonight and the winner was the CP manager who also taught us some news methods.

The spaghetti went down well with Jacquei and another rider assisting with the salad. We made a huge dutch oven full of spaghetti and it all went. The caravan park manager put on a sing-a-long around the camp fire for us as well and enjoyed by everyone. In bed by 9.30 pm.
